Court Sentences Two Brothers To One Year Imprisonment For Fraud

The EFCC, Benin Zonal office, on Thursday November 21, 2019 verified the feelings of two siblings, Wisdom Onojiolou and Omorodion Onojiolou before Justice M.G Umar of the Federal High Court sitting in Benin, Edo State on a two check charge of plan to dupe and acquiring under affectation. 

An announcement from EFCC says the team were said to have deceitfully acquired the entirety of N15, 400, 000. (Fifteen Million, Four Hundred Thousand Naira) from one Philian Uwadiae under the affectation that the cash was to build up a business for her in Benin. 

One of the checks read: "that you Wisdom Ehis Onojiolou at some point in March 2016 in Benin inside the ward of this good court did with goal to swindle, got the total whole of N9,000,000.00 (Nine Million Naira) Only from Philian Uwadiae under the falsification that the cash was to set up human hair business for her in Benin , a portrayal you knew to be bogus and in this manner submitted an offense in spite of Section 1(1)(b) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offenses Act, 2006 and culpable under segment 1(3) of a similar Act". 

The two siblings confessed to the charges when it was perused to them . 

In perspective on their supplication, the indictment counsel, I.M Elody implored the court to sentence and convict the respondents in like manner. 

Nonetheless, protection counsel, Martha Imafu begged the court to temper equity with leniency as the respondents were first time guilty parties who have gotten sorry. 

Equity Umar from that point indicted and condemned the litigants to one year detainment initiating from the date of judgment and requested that they make compensation to their unfortunate casualty.
