A Woman who was chained to the pillar by her husband was rescued by the police in Enugu state (Nigeria)


A woman has been chained by her husband for 18 hours and she has been rescued in her martial home in Ebonyi state.

The woman who is identified as Mrs Ngozi chukwuani was chained with padlock to in a pillar inside their home at No 1 Ike street in Ebonyi by her husband who is also identified as Mr Uche Chukwuani.

According to the reports, it was stated that the daughter of the woman attempted to save her mother but her father used the same chain he used for his wife to hit his daughters head.

The Woman(Ngozi Chukwuani) was rescued by the Ekeaba police division.




According to the police, it took a great effort to break the padlock out of her legs because the key that her husband used for her legs was not available so they requested a welder to cut the chain that was on her legs.

According to the Special Assistant to the state Governor on security and Utility (Saint Nchekwube Anakor) stated the incidents to the Journalist in Ebonyi.

According to him, he stated that the couples are married and they have kids and they are both from Enugu state.

Saint Nchekwube Anakor also stated that he brought a welder to come and cut the chain to free the woman's legs which as padlocked by her husband.

He also stated the police men of Eke-aba divison in Enugu state were present at the scene and they are already investigating the matter.




He also stated that the man will be arrested and taken to face the law.



Saint Nchekwube Anakor said: "This evening at no.1 Ike street, Mr Uche Chukwuani chained his wife to a pillar in their building and ran away with the key. Thanks to Ekeaba police whose timely response saved the situation.



He also said "I had to send a welder who cut the chain. One question kept on coming to my mind, what did this woman do to warrant being chained like a dog by her own husband. Does whatever transpired warrant such dehumanization?Most people act in ignorance. Nobody has the right to chain or tie any human being, because it is against the law.

"Presently, he is on the run, but I wonder how long he could run because we must catch him. I thank the residents of that area for giving us timely information.



"I advise people to be wary of their actions; ignorance is not an excuse in law.



"I am always on patrol till daybreak, expecting to hear from you. The neighborhood watch are stationed in every part of the town protecting ur areas. Reach out us for any challenges."




Mrs Chukwuani told the Tribune news that her husband had earlier threatened to deal with her because his mistress is suffering.
