Someone that don’t say sorry and also don’t keep to promises is one of the red flags you should not ignore in relationships- Man

Relationship coach Matthew Hussey has shared important advice on identifying red flags in relationships during a podcast with The Chris Evans Breakfast Show.

He highlighted two crucial red flags: an inability to say “sorry” and a failure to keep promises.

Hussey emphasized that these behaviors are significant warning signs that should not be ignored.

While discussing his book, How to Raise Your Standards, Find Your Person, and Live Happily No Matter What, he mentioned that red flags are particularly dangerous because people often encounter numerous potential warning signs in everyday life.

He said: “I always say red flags are a dangerous thing because we live in a world where everything’s become a red flag to people.

“Neither of those things, as a one-off, are necessarily the end of the world. We’ve all broken a promise, forgotten to do something we said we would do.

“We’ve all had an argument where we found it hard to say sorry in that argument. But as a chronic condition of someone who isn’t good for their word, and someone who can’t say sorry, those two on their own are quite potent red flags.

“But together, they become what I think of as a kind of dark pairing. Because if you have someone who can’t keep their promises, but then when they don’t keep their promise, they can’t even be accountable for it. They can’t say sorry. Yeah, that’s a really potent combination.

He continued: “We tend to have very high standards about things that don’t matter, especially growing up, when we’re in our 20s, and so on,’ the dating coach continued.

“The person you’re dating now, or in a relationship with now, they don’t have to win the award for greatest chemistry you’ve ever had in your life.

“You need chemistry with them in some form.

“But guess what, you also need a bunch of other things that are massively important to an actual relationship, like reliability and loyalty and consistency and respect and being seen by that person.

“These are the things that we have to start prioritising if we want to be happier. We have to start actually chasing the right things instead of the wrong things.”
